Kitecamp in Watamu, Kenya

In Kenya you will find enough space for many kiters, but there are none. Usually it is only us and two or three other people on the water. Thanks to the reliable thermals, you can prepare for many wind days. We will mainly have wind for ten to twelve square meter kites. Of course we also needed smaller and bigger kites in the past. 

Due to the sideshore wind we will mainly stay at the kite station, where we have also stored our equipment and can use the infrastructure. In Watamu you can of course freely organize your time. We definitely don't have stress, we have a lot of time. 

We take care of your progress in joint kite sessions and will improve your skills. If you want to ride a waveboard or foil, we make it possible for you. 

Occasionally, waves can be found on the reef when the conditions work together perfectly. 

Downwinders are also planned. Here we just have to decide how long we want to ride with the wind. We take care of your progress and safety and have fun on the water.

Yes, kitesurfing is strength training! So that you don't just build up your muscles while towing your kite and otherwise sit around waiting for better wind, we offer you our equipment for rent.

Whether on land or on the water, strong or weak wind - we always have the right equipment for you! So you travel much more carefree, use a twint tip or a wave board and new kites from top brands like Flysurfer, Core, Ozone or Duotone and have more time on the water overall.

Good to know: Our equipment rental includes kites and boards. If you don't have your own harness or want to rent one, let us know. If you don't have your own wetsuit yet, we will be happy to advise you with buying one or support you with renting on site.

LakeUnited's events are always educational. Because our goal is that you can take as much as possible with you. We place great value on practice and can now look back on more than 15 years of training experience in kitesurfing. Nevertheless, we are constantly evolving by continuously revising our concepts. 

After all, there is not just one way, because everyone learns differently and needs different inputs. In addition, one or the other may already have made mistakes that need to be specifically corrected. We use different approaches to improve your skills on the water and on the kite. We will hold several workshops and also offer video analyzes - if everything goes well, even with a projector in the evening. 

Because we love detailed work, we can draw your attention to little things that others don't even see. Often, just a few small changes lead to the desired success and you enjoy more fun and safety on the water. n our high-quality kite lessons, we clearly see our strength in empathy and in working on a personal level. With empathy and a lot of fun, we will pick you up right where you are. This applies to beginners as well as professionals, after all, we have already trained some kite instructors in our academy.

You don't have to take care of your physical well-being in Kenya, as there is a private cook for us. He provides you with breakfast and dinner. Every day starts with a healthy breakfast together. There is homemade granola with fresh and juicy fruits, eggs in different variations and deliciously ripe avocados.

During the day you can get something to drink right on the kite beach at the surrounding bars and restaurants and buy a lunch snack or a delicious Italian ice cream. 

Dinner at our mansion is varied. There is everything from vegetarian dishes to meat or fish.

In the city of Watamu (five minutes by moped or tuk tuk) there are some good restaurants and bars where you can eat and drink well. With a lot of Italian influence, you are well looked after here in very beautiful places. 

The destination of the trip is Mombasa. Turkish and Ethiopian Airlines fly relatively quickly from Vienna with a stopover. Tip from us: At Ethiopian Airlines sports baggage with 23 kilograms is included. You can register for Turkish Airlines sports baggage with 32 kilograms for about € 50 each way. No matter how you get to Mombasa, we will definitely pick you up from the airport.

Transfer to the mansion: We organize a transfer to your accommodation and back again. This is already included in the price. 

Money: Official currency in Kenya is the Kenyan shilling. If you want you can change a small amount at the airport. However, we advise you not to change a larger amount there, because there is an opportunity for a better course in Watamu. You can also withdraw money with your credit card in the city.

Visa: A visa is mandatory for your entry into Kenya. You can apply online in advance and it costs around € 55.- 

Passport: Your passport must be valid for six months upon entry.

Vaccinations: There is no mandatory vaccination for Kenya. However, it is advisable to contact your doctor or the tropical institute in advance and to consult.

Malaria: We recommend extensive insect protection. However, everyone has to decide for themselves whether to take malaria medication prophylactically. It is best to clarify here with the tropical institute and your doctor. 

Internet: There is wifi in the mansion and at the kite center. If you need internet anytime and anywhere, you can of course get your own SIM card,

Safari: We can organize a safari for you and other participants on site. We recommend a two-day tour of the Tsavo East National Park with an overnight stay in a lodge. Of course you can also stay longer on safari or start or end your vacation with a tour.
