Snowkiting at Lake Reschen

Your gigantic playground

Snowkiting on Lake Reschen with a wonderful view and gigantic conditions. For a few days, everything revolves around learning to snowkite or improving your snowkiting skills and perhaps preparing for a bigger adventure like Norway.

When Lake Reschen in South Tyrol freezes over in February as usual and is covered with a good portion of snow, snowkiters find an inviting playground. With steady and reliable winds, the area offers fantastic and optimal conditions for beginners as well as advanced kiters to learn snowkiting or expand their skills.

We will be out and about every day of the camp, making the most of the weather and the fantastic scenery. Even if the wind doesn't cooperate, we have the right program ready for you.

At Lake Reschen for you

Snowkiting with a fantastic view

Spot & wind at Lake Reschen

For snowkiters, Lake Reschen is a gigantic playground ideal for beginners, advanced and professional kiters. Every year the lake freezes over, has a thick layer of snow on top and thus provides sensational conditions for kiting.

At Lake Reschen you can collect miles and cover long distances with the kite. In addition to a beautiful panorama, the reservoir provides constant and reliable wind conditions due to its location - nestled between the mountains.

The lake is oriented from north to south and these are also the prevailing wind directions. However, if the wind is not optimal, you can also switch to the smaller Lake Haider.

Reschen am See

Accommodation at Lake Reschen

There are several options to stay at Lake Reschen. The place Reschen am See is perfectly located so that we can launch our kites quickly after breakfast. There are small, lovely guesthouses that offer overnight accommodation from EUR 35.- / night (including breakfast). Of course there are also nice hotels that are a little more expensive.

The village of Graun in Vintschgau also offers options to stay over night. However, you usually have to drive 15 minutes by car in the morning. Since we will spend most of the time in Reschen am See, we recommend booking accommodation there as well.

Success guaranteed

Snowkiting at Lake Reschen

Our snowkite camp has a strong focus on practical sessions and is tailored to your individual skill level.

Starting with kite setup and safety, you will then move right on to the kite. During this process, you will learn how to steer the kite and explore the wind window. Then you will already be heading towards snowkiting and gliding across the snow.

We will show you various turning maneuvers, moving freely with the kite – kiteloops are also on the agenda, and possibly your first jumps.

You can test our entire range of different snowkites and see which kite suits you best.

Detailed information on the Snowkite Course at Lake Reschen

Again and again we end up at Lake Reschen for snow kiting and we really know our way there.

We have briefly summarized all the useful information for you.

During the three or four camp days, you will learn everything about snowkiting and rack up kilometers on the kite.

Following a theoretical introduction to the practical topics (safety, wind window, kite control, equipment knowledge), you will learn how to handle the kite in the snow in no time through play. Different turning maneuvers, jumps, as well as tips and tricks are explained in individual coaching sessions.

All kite material is included in the camp price. For this we use the latest ones Peak by Flysurfer. These particularly light kites have been specially developed for backcountry snowkiting and will help you make quick progress.

If you don't have your own harness or want to try one out, let us know and we'll pack the right one for you.

We are committed to the highest quality. Our many years of experience as snowkite instructors guarantee you rapid learning success. Our goal is for you to take away as much as possible for yourself.

Most of the time you have to reset your set goals within this week – and we are by no means being arrogant. We meet you right where you are. In just a few days, you get as many condensed practice hours as you would otherwise only get in several seasons.

Especially when it comes to kite control, you can make endless progress on the snow and apply it directly on the water. That's also how we'll train kiteloops on the snow – a real game changer for getting around with the kite.

Requirements: Experience in handling skis or a snowboard. You do not have to meet any other specific requirements.

To take with you: Snowboard or skis including boots/ski boots, warm athletic clothing, helmet (if available), headwear, gloves, ski goggles

We are happy to help you with a booking and send you the appropriate link. We recommend the accommodation in Reschen am See, close to the kite spot.

Breakfast should be included in the pension or accommodation. In the evening we will have dinner together in town. There is also a supermarket where you can buy a snack for the day.

The camp starts directly in Reschen am See. We will meet at the „Mein Dörfl“ café.

Arrival is by private car or in carpools, which we organize in our WhatsApp group.
