Djerba Lagoon
Fantastic conditions
“Why doesn’t anyone kite kite here?” We thought to ourselves as we stood on the beach, looking at the turquoise water and were thrilled by the sight alone.
A vast, seemingly endless lagoon with shallow areas, constant wind, perfect flat water, sandbanks, and channels almost all to ourselves. The Mediterranean Sea offers a unique playground here for all skill levels – and the perfect location for our kite camp in Tunisia.
As a home base for our kite camp, we have chosen a family-run apartment complex in the town of Zarzis. From there, we are about 30 minutes away from one of the kite stations we have selected for our camp – and directly at this dreamlike spot between the island Djerba and the mainland.
Regardless of whether you beginner or are already advanced kitesurfer, you can expect optimal conditions for your individual needs. Unlimited coaching and guided downwinders make our kite camp in Tunisia an unforgettable adventure.

Our LakeUnited Know-How videos were filmed right here in this lagoon. Here's a little preview of the kitesurfing spot on Djerba. Want more coaching videos? Subscribe to our YouTube Channel!
A single, incredibly large lagoon
In the far south of Djerba, between the island and the mainland, there is a unique playground for kitesurfers and all those who want to become one.
Several kilometers of shallow water and standing areas, interspersed with islands teeming with thousands of birds and a few flamingos. This fantastic lagoon landscape, combined with the possibility of kitesurfing on the open sea.
With a constant side-on shore wind from the northeast, you can expect between 16 and 25 knots almost daily.
From our accommodation, we can reach any of the best kitesurfing spots within ten to forty minutes. We have several of the small local kitesurfing schools on our itinerary, which we will visit depending on the conditions.
Luxurious bungalow complex just for us
For our stay, we chose the most beautiful bungalow complex, with authentic Tunisian flair, rich in culture, and about a ten-minute drive from our kite spot. You can choose between double rooms (with twin beds), triple rooms, or single rooms. Two rooms are available per bungalow. In the middle of our bungalows is the heart of the complex: our pool. Right in front of the traditional tea tent, where we'll drink tea together with the family every day, talk about the culture, and experience wonderful moments.
Since we'll be spending most of our time at the spot, we'll have half-board accommodation and be provided with lavish buffets in the morning and evening. We don't need to worry, because there will be too much food every day anyway, and it will taste incredibly good.
If we ever need a break from kiting, we can always spend it at our resort, as it's completely ours and it's so beautiful that we'll probably have to force you to go kiting.
These team members have also entered the kitesurfing camp Tunisia in their calendars.
Good to know: Because we want to be there for you 100 percent and with full energy, we regularly change the people in our team. This means you will probably never meet all of us at the same time.
In the lagoon with sandy bottom, standing area and constant sideshore wind you can take your first steps or your first experiences on the kite or improve your level.
As soon as the air starts to move, we start towards the water, because practice is a very important factor to us. As long as you have energy and are not afraid of a sunstroke, you can stay on the water and work on your kite skills.
Of course, within a week with LakeUnited there are also various workshops that give you a comprehensive insight into the world of kitesurfing.
We cannot list the number of hours here, because you get full support from us this week. We design our program according to the circumstances. Since our goal is your maximum progress, you can look forward to a brilliant time with many successes.
LakeUnited's events are always educational. Because our goal is that you can take as much as possible with you.
We place great value on practice and can now look back on more than 15 years of training experience in kitesurfing. Nevertheless, we are constantly evolving by continuously revising our concepts.
After all, there is not just one way, because everyone learns differently and needs different inputs. In addition, one or the other may already have made mistakes that need to be specifically corrected
We use different approaches to improve your skills on the water and on the kite. We will hold several workshops and also offer video analyzes - if everything goes well, even with a projector in the evening. This has already proven itself many times! Because we love detailed work, we can draw your attention to little things that others don't even see. Often, just a few small changes lead to the desired success and you enjoy more fun and safety on the water.
In our high-quality kite lessons, we clearly see our strength in empathy and in working on a personal level. With empathy and a lot of fun, we will pick you up right where you are. This applies to beginners as well as professionals, after all, we have already trained some kite instructors in our academy.
You travel by plane to Djerba-Zarzis (DJE).
Tunis Air, Swiss Air and some package tour providers offer direct flights from the larger cities in Central Europe.
We'll rent cars at the airport (not included in the camp price). This way, we'll be mobile and can also drive to different spots.
Travel time from the airport to the accommodation: approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes
Travel time from the accommodation to the kite station: approx. 30 minutes
In our hotel, we offer half-board, and you'll be well taken care of with generous buffets in the morning and evening. Everything is homemade and lovingly prepared here.
At the kitebeach we can organize and have fruit and sandwiches delivered if required.
We live in a family-run apartment complex that leaves nothing to be desired in terms of luxury and comfort. Our bungalows are located around the centrally located pool, each with two rooms (single, double, or triple occupancy possible).
The rooms are very spacious and lovingly furnished by our host family, who take care of everything we need.
We'll drive to the kitesurfing spot in a rental car. We'll organize carpools in advance via our WhatsApp group.
So you can try things out and don't have to sit around waiting for better wind, we're offering our equipment in a package deal. Our equipment rental includes kites and boards.
Whether you're kiting on land or on the water, in strong or light winds – we have the right equipment for you! This means you can travel much more carefree, use twin-tip or waveboards as you please, and enjoy new kites from top brands like Flysurfer, Core, Ozone, Harlem, or Duotone, and spend more time on the water overall.
Good to know: Harness and neoprene equipment
If you don't have your own harness or want to try one out, let us know, and we'll pack the right one for you to rent. By the way, the rental fee will be credited towards the purchase price if you keep the harness after the camp.
If you don't have your own wetsuit or other neoprene equipment, we're happy to advise you or help you rent one on-site.
Travel insurance: We are not insurance agents, but we are committed to offering you comprehensive travel insurance. And honestly, cancellation and travel insurance makes sense. You can choose an insurance package as part of your booking.
Equipment insurance: With the insurance tool of the Association of German Water Sports Schools (VDWS) you are insured against damage to your own equipment or to the rental equipment. This has often saved us stress, which is why we definitely recommend the VDWS Safety Tool! You can find more information about this http://safetytool.de/VY99056
Passport: To enter Tunisia, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
Visa: In Tunisia, entry is possible for up to 4 months without a visa
Change money: It is not necessary to change money in advance. A lot of things can be paid in euros, but there are also ATMs on site.
Internet: The hotel offers (moderately fast) internet plans. However, it is recommended to get a SIM card upon entry or an e-SIM in advance.
How much time do we spend on the water?
We are known for getting the most out of it and do not stick to fixed course times. You can kite for as long as you want, can or until the sun goes down.
How are the groups adapted to my level?
The group is supervised by a total of 3 coaches (if the camp is fully booked). In this way, we can group the participants into homogeneous groups according to their level and address their current level and individual goals.
I eat vegetarian/vegan, is that possible there?
Vegetarian is no problem. Vegan is also possible (with restrictions), but we cannot guarantee the content of some dishes. To be on the safe side, we recommend taking vegan food with you.
Do I need a wetsuit?
We recommend a 3/2 wetsuit or a shorty
How do we organize rental cars?
We organize carpools in advance in our WhatsApp group and coordinate the rental of the cars together.
How does it work with (mobile) internet?
It's best to get a SIM card when you enter the country (airport) or an E-SIM in advance.
Can my partner (not a kiter) come with me too?
Yes, of course.
